TFing

Well that was an interesting debate in the fpf today about TFing someone. Some of the views were quite strong... "creepy" and "schmuckish" jump to mind. I get creepy. I dont get schmuckish. eh, People get too worked up over $5 it seems. I mean I wonder who sponsored me but meh I don't obsess about it.

D'oh! I accidentily winked at someone on Match.com. In a perfect world, I would have intentionally. She is cute and sounds real cool but.. yeah not a perfect world. Sorry girlie, I didn't mean to waste your time.

Oh well, a quick email that I been neglecting and then I must go to bed.

I'm going to pollute your blog-space for a bit!

Sponsorship is an interesting topic, honestly. Specific reactions can reveal quite a lot about a person, which is almost always fascinating and (obviously) unintentional.
You should send out plenty of winks, anyway. They're nice.
And neglected emails (when sent) can make the recipient that much happier by surprise, no? [a happy emoticon would go here, but I won't pollute too much!]
And you should listen to some Rachmaninov sometime. I'm currently addicted. I'll spare you (and your other stalkers) for now and save any more rambling for email.

Pollute away. I wouldn't have comments enabled if I minded.

I did find the magnitude of the negative reaction surprising. Some of the comments seemed off-kilter (schmuckish in particular).

As for winks, most people have a negative view of them. They have different motivations than you. And as with these things, who the sender is provides context. If Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Jude Law (or whatever "hot star" you want to pick) sent one, it would be the greatest.thing.evar. If someone who the recipient thinks is unattractive sends one, it is a crime worse than any hitler ever committed.

More modern day composers always were a challenge for me. There is no denying Rachmaninov's talent though.

I'm happy to comment more, now that I have your authorization!
I don't know how anyone can deride a TF sponsor - I think it's a very nice thing to do. I felt pretty guilty about accepting mine, personally. It can be a good way to show someone that you think they're cool, or whatever - but it can also be a way to tell someone that you've had impure thoughts about them, which is ... maybe a *little* creepy!
Thanks for the explanation about the winks - it's good to know that the shallow high school mentality is ever pervasive! Sometimes I think that life can just be one long popularity contest for some (most?) people. I got a message on my OkCupid account from a very ripped, incredibly vain, and impressively shallow man the other day - and I was flattered (as I always am), but also annoyed. I wanted something with more substance, I guess. So I'm probably just as much of a jerk! Ah well.
And what do you mean by 'a challenge'? That's intriguing. I'm so in love with the Romantic (and beyond) period of music right now it hurts! I keep listening to Rachmaninov's Preludes - they're just beautiful. I wish I could afford endless amounts of classical RIGHT NOW - my collection is so tiny. It can be quite expensive, so amassing a meaty collection just has to wait.
What is the Internet coming to when I can just ramble on in your blog? Whatever is happening, I think I like it!

I can see creepy but what about anon. TFing? Is that creepy? Oh well I just keep the impure thoughts to myself. Saves on the creepiness factor. :D

Classical is usually available pretty cheaply unless you want a specific performance. I remember they use to sell CDs in a carboard sleeve (not plain but with a design like a cd label). There were like 5 bucks or so.

And I mean Challenging in the sense that I cant naturally appreciate it. I almost have to work to do so.

and Life always is a popularty contest in some sense. ick
